1. How Sound Travels: Explain that sound travels outwards in air from its source to our ears. Demonstrate sound traveling through solids by having a pupil place their ear flat on a wooden desk while tapping gently on the other end.
2. Near and Far Sounds: Ring a bell close to pupils (loud/near), then step far outside the door and ring it (soft/distant).
3. What is an Echo? Explain that when sound bounces off hard surfaces (like empty rooms, high walls, or hills), it repeats itself. That reflected sound is an **echo**.
4. Uses of Sound:
   • Communication: Talking, phone calls, school bell.
   • Warning & Safety: Fire alarms, police sirens, car horns.
   • Entertainment: Listening to music, radio, stories.
5. Class Activity: Conduct a simple "Tin Can / Cup Telephone" experiment using two cups connected by a stretched string to show sound traveling along solids.
