The elements in the alkaline earth metals group; beryllium (Be), magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr), barium (Ba), and radium (Ra), have two electrons in thei
r outer electronic shell. Each element in this group has a tendency to lose two electron, to form a doubly charged positive ion, which has the stable electronic configuration of its neighboring Nobel Gas element in the periodic table.

The alkaline Earth metals are  found in the group 2 alone, beginning from the period 2 to 7 of the periodic table
